The government will move an amendment to the 20th Amendment to bring the President's Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s office among the state institutions coming under the purview of the Auditor General.
The government will incorporate a dozen changes to the 20th Amendment during the committee change and a bulk of them are technical changes.
Earlier there was criticism levelled against the government for the exclusion of these two offices from the purview of the Auditor General.
Another substantial change to the original draft of the Bill will be the inclusion of a provision that provides for the President to dissolve Parliament only after two-and-a-half years. The original draft says it can be done after one year.
The Attorney General has already informed Court that the government will move amendments to the original draft during the committee stage.(Kelum Bandara)

BRINGING PRESIDENTS OFFICE AND PM OFFICE UNDER AG IS NOT A TECHNICAL MOVE. PEOPLE DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORD TECHNICAL THE GOVT IS USING FOR. THESE TWO OFFICERS ARE BIG GAME INSTITUTIONS

People should understand that under INTOSAI standards all democracies require the Auditor General to audit any institution funded by government, including government owned companies. About 120 of such institution will not be audited by Auditor General and therefore will not be reported to Parliament. This is terrible let down of the mandate due to presure from businessmen.

I voted SLPP, but if government reluctant to be audited, its not people friendly, it's the direction towards grabbing commissions and bribes, though voted, you are not in good books, Sri Lankan commission, Malwana no one's palace ,still answerable, you would loose everything due to too much of greed
