Two Russian Navy ships arrive at Colombo port

Two Russian Navy ships ‘Yaroslav Mudry’ and ‘Victor Konetsky’ arrived at the port of Colombo on a three-day goodwill visit yesterday.

The visiting ships were welcomed by Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Subsequently, the Commanding Officers of the 02 Russian Navy ships Captain Victor Vasilyevich Kostriukov and Captain Mikchail Aleksandrovich called on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe at the Western Naval Command Head Quarters.

During the cordial meeting they discussed several matters of bilateral importance and exchanged mementoes as well.

During their stay in the island the crew members of both ships are scheduled to take part in several events organized by the Navy.

They will also visit some of the famous tourist destinations in the county. The two ships are scheduled to leave for their next port of call on 06th of this month. (Navy.lk)
