Toll of Covid-19 cases surges to 1,034

729 positive cases yesterday alone

The total number of cases from the Minuwangoda cluster stood at 1,034 with 199 employees of the apparel factory, another from Brandix company at Welisara and three close associates, testing positive for COVID - 19 today. These 1,034 cases were reported within just four days.

The Information Department said they were all employees attached to the apparel factory and were under quarantine process. Some 202 cases were reported today while some 729 positive cases were reported on Tuesday alone, accounting for the highest number of single-day detections.

Meanwhile, a cleaning service worker attached to the BIA also tested positive for COVID - 19 today. Accordingly, the total number of confirmed positive cases in Sri Lanka surged to 4,459 with 1,172 active cases. A total of 3,274 patients have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Meanwhile, according to Health Promotion Bureau statistics, a total of 303,381 PCR tests have so far been carried out with 4,480 tests being done on Tuesday (6) which was the highest number of PCR testing on a single day. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

    Urgent: Lockdown country for a week and Trace contacts and clusters and quarantine them. Make hospitals do a mandatory Covid test for anyone turning up with fever. Already too late clusters all over the country and some asymptomatic So very complicated.

    In case of the Covid - 19, increase the all over island, within couple of days, people's given more careless in their health, but again lock down the country, for covid - 19 case not a greatway to government for everything, but government have to given more sticky health intrucation to follow the people's, in cases again look down the country, many people will be losing job,

    Our Govt controlled it beautifully and let's hope they continue to do the same. Even taking advice from the people who managed it the first time will not be a waste of time and can prevent the further spread. People have got to be honest and get themselves checked if they had any contacts with those infected.
