United National Party’s former General Secretary, Tissa Attanayake today informed UNP presidential hopeful Sajith Premadasa in writing that he would like to pledge his support in the run-up to the forthcoming presidential poll.
Mr. Attanayake said he conveyed his support in response to the letter sent by Minister Premadasa requesting him to rejoin the UNP.
Minister Premadasa requested former UNPers who quit the party including former general secretary Tissa Attanayake to rejoin the party.
While commending on the request made by Minister Premadasa, the former UNP stalwart said the reason that led him to vacate the party was because of the party’s decision not to field a UNP candidate in 2015 presidential poll.
“I think what I have been hoping for, is going to be a reality that a UNP candidate is going to contest at the presidential poll, I have decided to render my support to you,” Mr. Attanayake added.
He said in the letter that leaving what had happened in the past aside, he would like to join Mr. Premadasa and committed to work for the party wholeheartedly. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Thissa has never been on the wining side. He lost 20 times with Ranil and when he joined MR, MR lost and Ranil won.
