Tax on imported dried chilli and fish has been reduced by Rs.20 and Rs.75 per kilo respectively, the Ministry of Agriculture said today.
The Ministry said the tax on a kilo of dried chilli would be reduced from Rs.20 to Rs.5 while the tax on a kilo of fish would be reduced from Rs.100 to Rs. 25.
Minister P. Harison said the decision was taken by the Cost of Living Committee.
The Minister said that the committee had also approved to import chicken and eggs to control the prices in the local market considering the upcoming festival session.
