Former Parliamentary Affairs Minister Gayantha Karunatilaka said he submitted a Cabinet paper seeking approval for a residence to be assigned to Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R. Sampanthan on the recommendations of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He told Daily Mirror that he had to submit the Cabinet memorandum in this regard as the subject minister.
“The former premier and Speaker recommended a house to be given to Mr. Sampanthan as the then opposition leader and senior-most MP. Actually, it was given as a special privilege for Mr. Sampanthan to be used,” he said.
The residence is located at Mahagamasekara Mawatha in Colombo 7. (Kelum Bandara)

With all due respect to Mr. Sampanthan, how the hell Ranil and Karu make a decision without the proper approval and a proper mechanism to give a house to someone? He is not longer the Opposition Leader so did he give this residence back to the government?

You have made many blunders including the allocation of a Presidential palace to an ex president. He should have been allocated accommodation similar to ex Pres Chandrica.

Will do anything incorrect or not to keep my position, this was the attitude of UNP ministers.
