Former Minister Harin Fernando today said while remaining in the Opposition, he would support all good steps taken by the new government led by new President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Mr. Fernando told a press conference today said he would move towards the Opposition with the party and would support all good deeds which the new government would forge ahead with. However, he said he will not a crossover.
“New President Gotabaya Rajapaksa seems to be taking some positive steps to put the country on the right track. His decisions not to use back up vehicles and not to close roads when VIPs are travelling are commendable. However one wonders whether he could fulfil his desires as he would have to work with an old team which does not want to move away from its old ideologies. There could be cracks within the SLPP government in such circumstance,” he said.
“The appointments that have been made by the new President up to now is generally good, except for one or two,” the former minister added. (Yohan Perera)
