President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said today that coming to the people and solving their problems is not a political drama or a media show.

He said the next presidential election is almost four years away and that he is going to the villages to fulfill the mission.

The President said it is not his habit to stay in Colombo and consult the officials and identify people's problems. "Whoever criticizes this, I work as per my system," he said this while participating at the 9th 'Gama Samaga Pilisadara' programme held at the Dickellakanda Primary school premises in Deraniyagala.

He said he became President after working among the people. The President told the representatives of the youth to go and work among people.

The President reiterated that if any individual or group that engages in illegal activities claiming to solve people's problems, will be punished severely.

Excellent Mr President . The issue is none of the problems get solved . So either you are ineffective or those who you work with are ineffective or both. A simple glance at your manifesto will tell you that not even half the ton of promises you gave will be fulfilled . You know it and so do we.

Sri Lanka is facing economic collapse and sovereign default in the near future. The President should be in his office all day and perhaps all night also, discussing with senior officials how to get out of this mess, not loafing around the country trying to gain cheap popularity.
