A 27-year-old soldier who was on duty at the Army Headquarters in Colombo died after he allegedly shot himself early this morning.
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the soldier who was attached to the Engineers Corps of the Army Headquarters, had shot himself using his official weapon.
He was identified as a resident of Polonnaruwa.

All soldiers on should be given a screening ASAP! Or else next we would here that they shot someone else like a leader , head of state or presidential candidate! Even worse they aren’t in front of all schools and places of worship with loaded weapons! Think about it!

Second soldier within few weeks to die of gunshot wounds while on guard duty in Colombo. They may have been targeted by a sniper can not be ruled out.
