Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) Chairman M.K.Sivajilingam, who handed over nominations for the upcoming presidential election, has resigned from the party’s chairmanship.
“I have already handed over the resignation letter to the party leader and the working committee. I only resigned from the chairmanship but my membership will remain,” Sivajilingam told media.
“The party had no relation to the nomination being handed over,” leader of the party, Selvam Adaikalanathan, had told the media recently.
In response, Mr.Sivajilingam said he had handed over nominations as an independent candidate and was not representing TELO.
Furthermore, he said that he was unaware of what the decision of the party might be, but he was ready to face any decision. (Romesh Madushanka)
