Heavy showers exceeding 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts, the Meteorology Department said.
They said showers will occur in Northern, Eastern, North-Central, Central and Uva provinces and Hambantota district.
Meanwhile, fairly heavy showers above 50 mm could be expected at some places in Uva province and Polonnaruwa, Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Therefore, the Department requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
