Average number of daily COVID19 cases in the Colombo City has dropped from 350 cases to 110, Colombo Municipality Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni said yesterday.

Dr. Wijeayamuni told Daily Mirror that CMC had adopted a strategy of going to the people and subjecting them to Rapid Antigen Tests and then conduct PCR tests if they came across any person who had tested positive.

“Earlier, we waited for the people to come to us to conduct tests, but now we have changed our strategy,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said some 31 COVID-19 cases were detected from Veluwanarama Road in Colombo-9 yesterday.

“We initially conducted Rapid Antigen Tests and found a few to be positive patients. A total of 31 cases were detected through PCR tests which were conducted later. However, we are yet to determine as to how these people have been infected,” he added.

“Also, we haven’t come across any more COVID positive people among the inmates of ‘Home for the Elders’ in Modara where 45 inmates were found positive a few weeks ago,” he further said. (YOHAN PERERA)

Do not do random tests but a full lockdown in Colombo. Then go door to door and do rapid antigen tests on each one. You will find tens of thousands infected.
