With the recommendations from the Health Services Director General regarding re-open schools in the Western Province (WP), schools with classes except Grade five, eleven and thirteen will reopen on April 19, the Education Minister said.
While addressing the media he said written recommendations related to re-opening of schools in WP, has already been received by the Ministry.
Accordingly, grade five, eleven and thirteen will be opened on Monday (March 15).
"There is no issue with the schools in other provinces. All grades in other schools in the country except in the WP will open on Monday," he said.
However, the Ministry has decided to re-open schools for grade one students on April 19.
"Although the children who were admitted to grade one this year, did not have any chance to attend school.
Therefore, the Ministry has decided to start those classes on April 19," the Minister added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
