A 9-year old school boy was killed and 15 others hospitalised after a passenger bus collided with a train at a railway crossing in Thaleimannar this afternoon, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that at least 30 passengers were onboard the bus at the time of the accident and that 20 among them were students.
He said the injured were admitted to the Thaleimannar and Mannar Hospitals.
Two of them are in critical condition.
The spokesman said the driver and the conductor of the bus were taken into police custody.
