NDF Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa won 82.12% and 83.86% in the Vanni and Jaffna district Polling Divisions respectively.
He received 174,739 cumulative votes in Vanni and 312,722 cumulative votes in Jaffna.

Gotabaya to Tamil voters is like showing a red tag to a Bull. People cannot forget white vans, grease devils, arrests, detention, the murder of LTTE surrendees, banning the singing of National Anthem in Tamil, the bombing of hospitals and schools and then claiming they were legitimate military targets, his hostility towards both Tamils and Muslims and his patronage of Sinhala Buddhist extremists like Galgoda Gnanasara Thero, Athurale Rathna Thero and others. His opposition to devolving land powers, police powers etc. It is a pity the Sinhalese voters voted for a person accused of corruption, murder, misuse of state funds etc. The country is going once again to an era of doom and gloom.

Very bold of you (and ignorant) to assume that only Sinhalese voted for Gotabaya. It's as if you are suggesting that Tamils live only in the North and East. Regardless of your opinion, the majority has spoken, and we have a new president for the entire country (all nationalities). Live with it.
