Sajith appeals for assistance from Norwegian envoy
Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa who continues his effort to reach foreign diplomats to assist Sri Lanka to overcome the current COVID pandemic, requested for Norwegian assistance as well.
Mr. Premadasa had discussions to get this assistance when he met the Norwegian Ambassador in Sri Lanka Trine Joranli Eskedail on Tuesday evening.
“Sri Lanka is in need of medical equipment such as ICU beds and oxygen and life saving equipment and therefore I request Norway to assist us in fulfilling these needs,” he told the Scandinavian nation's ambassador.
“I am making this humble request in line with the policy of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) which encourages the foreign actors, Sri Lanka’s foreign partners to encourage to provide assistance which Sri Lanka needs. Sri Lanka needs assistance as the COVID cases are escalating,” he said.
Both parties have agreed that a global effort has to be put in to fight the pandemic , the Opposition Leader’s office said. (Yohan Perera)
