Sainthamaruthu Hideout - Cop who gave info promoted

The Kalmunai Traffic Police Constable, who provided vital information on the terrorist hideout in Sainthamarthu was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and awarded Rs.500,000, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.

He said in addition, another two policemen were awarded Rs.500,000 each while three Muslim men were awarded Rs.1 million each for providing vital information on the terrorists.

At least 15 people were killed in the explosion that took place in a house in Sainthamaruthu during a gun battle on April 26.
