The Government of India has decided to grant over 500,000 vaccines manufactured in India to Sri Lanka and the consignment is scheduled to arrive on Thursday (28), the Government said today.

It was said during the Cabinet meeting that in view of the long-standing relationship between Sri Lanka and India and the cooperation between the two countries in face of the COVID-19 epidemic over the past year, India has decided to grant over 500,000 vaccines to Sri Lanka.

However, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa earlier said Sri Lanka would receive a consignment of 600,000 vials of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines from India on January 27 as the first step.
