The Supreme Court has rejected the motion filed by former Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, who was sentenced to a four-year rigorous imprisonmen over contempt of court.
He had filed a writ through a motion in the Supreme Court to survey the conviction. (Thilini De Silva and Ranjan Katugampola)

An activist like Ranjan should not be languishing in a jail. Now there is no way out for him barring a Presidential Pardon but in his original trial in the Supreme Court he should have had a better Lawyer who would have fought for him from an international perspective.

His party should forward a Human Right petition to United Nation, European Union and all powerful Presidents of the world. If the Sri Lankan Government is not reacting, hope there should be sanctions.
