Current UNP Deputy General Secretary Ruwan Wijewardene has the ability to lead the party, Lekadikari (Secretary) Asgiriya Chapter Venerable Medagama Dhammananda Thera said yesterday.
Venerable Thera made this remark when Mr. Wijewardene called on him in Kandy yesterday.
"A strong opposition is needed to show the shortcomings of the government whenever it goes wrong. We believe that you who come from a reputed family who had worked for the people and have the ability to lead the UNP," the Ven. Thera said.
"One must remember that Sri Lanka is a country with a culture based on Buddhism. People get hurt when you neglect Buddhism," he added.

20th Ammendment should say that yellow robes barred from politics. If they wish they should turn into civilian life. They are a disgrace to SL. My friends here are amused about yellow robes in politics.!!
