The Royal-Thomian cricket matches scheduled to be held next month have been postponed until further notice after some players tested positive with the COVID-19, the Daily Mirror learns.

The matches were scheduled to be held on May 6, 7 and 8 in Hambantota.

Organizers said they had decided to postpone the annual cricket matches after some players tested positive for COVID-19 after being subject to PCR tests.

A new date for the matches will be notified later.

Last year, several attendees of the big match were subject into self-quarantine after a Sri Lankan Airlines first officer who attended the matches tested positive for the virus. (JAMILA HUSAIN)

What happens to these guys who are without vaccines? Are there any prior precautions like Steaming, Warm water, plain tea, herbal, etc. apart from masks, etc?

Why is this headline news? Old Colonial mentality...give every school and schoolchild equal opportunities and a good quality education. We cannot get out of the mess the country is in without focussing on a new education system with ethics and values.

Some Thomian players only. Non of the Royalists tested positive. Vague reporting.

I thought by playing at "corona proof" Hambanthota, a proposal made by the brilliant world renowned "corona specialist" "Namal Rajapakse", would solve every "corona" issue ! I am puzzled, but my old Royal jockeys say, never trust a Thora !! lol

This is an elitist event organised by a bunch of elitists. Cancel the game as there are more pressing matters such as fighting this damn virus. Royalists and Thomians should look at the bigger picture rather than look at their school and make decisions for the welfare of the country, not their little school.

No point having this match now since no foreigners in the country. When country opens we can invite them to see worlds oldest cricket match watched by smiling fans.
