Seven suspects who had involved in a robbery in which jeweleries worth Rs. 3.8 million were robbed from a shop in Trincomalee on February 8, have been arrested yesterday, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said, investigations disclosed that the robbers who came in a boat along the Trincomalee - Koneswaram sea route and used the same boat to flee after the robbery.
He said the main suspect was found to be a 38-year-old resident of Trincomalee who is a brother of notorious criminal 'Ice Manju', who is currently absconding in connection with various crimes in the Trincomalee area.
Police recovered a hand grenade, a foreign-made firearm and six rounds of ammunition from the possession of the main suspect.
The suspects are to be produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate.
