Arrangements have been made to facilitate the entrance of vehicles to the respective gates for drop off and pick up of passengers and to minimise the distance that passengers have to walk with their baggage, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) said today.
In a statement, the SLAF said airport taxi service would also commence at the exit terminal. “Any passenger wishing to avail of such will be able to book at the terminal and board it just outside. Any passenger arriving at the airport can also consult any airport or Air Force official for further information about the new arrangements,” it said.
The SLAF said it was made aware that passengers arriving at and departing from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) had to undergo considerable inconvenience because of the enhanced security checks implemented from April 21.
Passengers arriving on flights and passengers arriving for flights had to walk a considerable distance after disembarking from their vehicles or before boarding their vehicles due to the fact that the SLAF was compelled to prohibit the entrance of vehicular traffic to the airport entrances.

SLAF did not realise due to the security arrangement, vehicles with persons arriving for departure had to wait over an hour as experienced by me. SLAF did not focus on the vehicle queue. Had any miscreants caused disturbance, there would have been another mayhem. SLAF need to patrol the entire length of vehicles waiting drop passengers.attacked
