The removal of emergency regulations will not hinder the investigations against the suspects of Easter Sunday attack, said Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera.

He said the withdrawal of emergency is not an obstacle to detain the suspects in custody or to confiscate the property of the suspects of the Easter Sunday attack. The ban on three terrorist organisations - National Thawheeth Jamaath, Jamathe Millathu Ibrahim and Vilayathe us Sailanya - which was made by a gazette notification will be effective despite the removal of emergency regulations.

He also said a large number of suspects were taken into custody under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and not under the emergency regulations. (Sujith Hewajulige)
