The Elections Commission has requested all government servants including semi-government servants to refrain from indefinite strikes as trade union action during the presidential election period.
It said in a statement that such strikes would hinder the activities of the presidential election.
The Commission also requested the railway trade unions to suspend their ongoing trade union action.
