The Education Ministry has requested permission from the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) on re-opening schools in the Western Province (WP) on March 15.
Education Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said the Ministry has planned to open grade five, eleven and thirteen as the first step and the remaining grades subsequently, he said.
The directions given by the Divisional Secretariat coordinating committees have been taken into consideration and forwarded to the Health Ministry, he said.
However, the Ministry awaits permission from the Health Ministry.
All schools in the country including Western Province (WP) will be re-opened on March 15.
No sooner the permission is obtained, the Ministry will issue a general notice to all schools in the WP, the Ministry Secretary said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
