UPFA Southern Provincial Council member Krishantha Pushpakumara, alias ‘Raththaran’, resigned from the post today.
He handed over his resignation to Southern Province Governor Keerthi Tennekoon.
The Councillor was arrested by the Akmeemana Police and released on bail by the Galle Magistrate’s Court on February 28, over the alleged abused of a 16-year-old girl in Akmeemana.
The Councillor said the decision was taken in order to facilitate the ongoing probe against him. (Raveendra Liyanage)
