Prison Intelligence Unit renamed as SLPERSF

The Intelligence Unit currently operating under the prisons department will be renamed as 'Sri Lanka Prison Emergency Response Strategic Force (SLPERSF)' to be used for security duties, protection of special prisoners/suspects, riot control and security duties, the Cabinet Spokesman said.

He said the reorganisation will enable to assign identified specific duties, in addition to duties performed by ordinary prison officers.
