President Gotabaya Rajapaksa decided to ban the importation of palm oil with immediate effect, President's Media Division (PMD) said in a statement.
Secretary to the President Dr. P. B. Jayasundara informed the Department of Imports and Exports Control to issue the respective gazette. Also, the stock of already imported palm oil will not be released to the market.

Palm Oil ban is good. Let's develop the local Coconut Oil production which is organic and far better than any other oils for Sri Lankans.
