Power disruptions were reported from several areas in the country yesterday due to the prevailing showery weather and windy conditions, Power and Energy Ministry Media Spokesman and Development Director, Sulakshana Jayawardena said.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, he said while no major power outages were reported there were some areas with no electricity due to trees falling onto power lines.
Power outages were reported in some areas in Ratnapura, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Matara, Galle and Kalutara districts, he said.
“Power outages are possible anywhere due to unexpected showery and windy conditions being experienced. Several emergency teams have been deployed to restore electricity as soon as possible,” he added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
