Special search operation would be conducted at restaurants, pubs, clubs and other social centres situated in the Western Province, especially at nights to monitor whether they are being operated adhering to health guidelines.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said such an operation was conducted last night under the instructions of Senior DIG Western Province and nearly 1,000 such places came under sudden inspections and more than 5,700 persons were checked between 7.00 pm and 10.00 pm.
During the operation, police arrested seven individuals for violating quarantine regulations and other offences. The arrested were from Colombo, Kalutara and Negombo.
DIG Rohana said police are intending to conduct more operations in the future to ensure people adhere to quarantine rules and regulations. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
