A 32-year-old driver was injured when the police opened fire at a three-wheeler which disobeyed an order to stop in Gampaha this evening, police said. Police officers on duty in Gampaha had signalled a suspicious three-wheeler to stop at a checkpoint.
The officers had informed the police officers at the next checkpoint about the three-wheeler which had disobeyed their orders. The HQI of Gampaha who had responded to the message, had also signalled the driver to stop the three-wheeler.
The HQI then followed the three-wheeler and had opened fire at it as the driver had failed to obey repeated police warnings. The driver, a resident of Bemmulla, was admitted to the Gampaha Hospital. It was revealed that the three-wheeler driver was under influence of alcohol. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Very well done Police. Orders are Orders especially when Emergency regulations are there. The Public must learn to adhere to the rule of Law. MM
