One-day and normal services of issuing passports and national identity cards (NICs) had returned to normal as of this morning, sources at the departments said.
Department for Registration of Persons (DRP) Commissioner-General Viyani Gunathileka and Emigration and Immigration Department's Assistant Controller B. G. G. Milinda said due to the temporary suspension of the executive officers’ protest, services would be provided as usual today.
The process of accepting applications for the issuance of NICs was slowed down yesterday by 50% as the Emigration and Immigration Department had suspended all services due to the strike by the government service executive officers of the department.
