As forerunner Northeast monsoon over the island, heavy rain falls above 75mm could be expected at some places in the Eastern Province and Matale and Polonnaruwa districts, the National Forecasting Division of the Meteorology Department said.
They said following the monsoon, showers or thundershowers could be expected at regular intervals in Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Uva provinces and in Matale and Hambantota districts.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers would occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa province and Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm, the Department said.
It also requested the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
