There is no politics behind the transfer of Wennapuwa ASP Eric Perera as it was made following a number of petitions received against the ASP, Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera said yesterday.

Minister Weerasekera who was responding to an oral question raised by MP Mujibur Rahaman said 30 more police officers have been transferred together with Mr. Perera. “One wonders as to why a fuss is made about the Wennapuwa ASP’s transfer as there has been no politics involved in it,” the Minister said.

“The new officer who has taken over duties is doing his job better than Mr. Perera,” he added.

He also said Eric Perera is currently serving in the Negombo police division. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
