The Management of the Nelum Pokuna Theatre has claimed damages amounting to an estimated Rs.200,000 from the organizers of the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant, following the brawl which erupted last Sunday evening which led to the uncrowning of the winner.

Chief Executive Officer at Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Brigadier Sujith Balachandra told Daily Mirror that that damages had occurred to the entering path of the stage mainly from the high heels worn by the females.

"We already informed the organising committee for the recovery of the damages caused to the theatre by the beauty pageant," he said. "They are responsible," he added.

Balachandra further denied reports claiming that damages had been caused to even the dressingrooms stating these claims were false.

National Organizer of the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World Chandimal Jayasinghe had claimed in front of the media a day after the pageant that the Nelum Pokuna Theatre had suffered extensive damages including mirrors being broken in the dressing rooms.

He further said that the organizers had made a payment to book the theatre for four hours, but due to the clash, a further two hours were extended which they would now have to pay for. He further said those involved in the brawl should take this responsibility. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

A guy once said it is shame to be a Sri Lankan. So am I. The country has been totally destroyed by dirty politics.

The organizers bear some responsibility. This didn’t happen at the spur of the moment. There would have been something brewing behind the scenes. The Chief organizer even mentioned that there was an issue last year. Given the indisciplined climate prevalent in our society they should have been prepared to face situations like this. Please don’t undertake these international projects if you can’t handle the bad with the good.

Only Rs 200,000 , that is nothing. Should claim at least Rs. 2,000,000. These guys spend Rs 200,000 for just having one meal with 10 others. Army should not bear single amount. I can't just comprend why Caroline Jurie did what she did. It does not make any sense. May be thst nowadays people try to get some publicity by doing something abnormal.

These pageants which parades brainless no job females is a canard ! Very distasteful . It is well and good for charity point of view, but these women should have been vetted properly, given strict code of behaviour,After all these women are cunning but dim witted empty headed humans ., they should have been told in no uncertain terms, that THEY ARE REPRESENTING OUR COUNTRY , AND THEY HAVE AN ENORMOUS RESPONSIBILITY. Instead they wanted to wash their dirty linen in front of the whole world. WHAT A SHAME ON OUR MOTHER LAND, This is a good lesson. P S. I hear there. Is a POLITICAL PATRONAGE ,in deciding the winner, It may not be, but knowing the people and the scatty rulers it is a very strong possibility.
