The National Identity Card (NIC) has been made compulsory for devotees to enter Sri Dalada Maligawa, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara said.
He said the decision was taken to gather information from the people who enter the Sacred Temple from the areas where a large number of COVID positive persons are found.
The NIC was also made mandatory for the protection of devotees and for the person who performs the traditional and cultural activities.
He also advised devotees to wear face masks, to cooperate when checking body temperature and should follow all health guidelines before entering the temple premises. (Chamil Rupasinghe)

How can NIC prevent spread of Corona? Please close the gates. You all are keeping this open only concerned about the money you collect. To follow the religion one need not come to the Maligawa or any place of worship.
