Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi today launched the first phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme for Senior Citizens in Colombo Municipal Council limits, the Ministry said.
They said the vaccination programme was slated for Senior Citizens who were above the age of 60 years.
The programme was initiated at two elders' homes located in Rajagiriya and Malabe.
Addressing the event, the Minister said 264,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVISHIELD vaccines were received under the COVAX programme will be administered among senior citizens.
She also said under the first inoculation programme, vaccines will be given to the elderly living within the Colombo Municipal Council limits in Colombo and Gampaha districts. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

What about those between 30 and 59 with underlying health issues ?? At high risk (diabetes, kidney issues, Heart issues )

This is a condition laid down by the WHO for free vaccine to poor countries. As Sri Lanka is a poor country it has to follow these priorities list.
