The Registrar General's Department revised the charges of marriages registration with effect from June 1, the Registrar General's Department Register General W.M.M.B. Weerasekara said.
He said the revised charges applied as per the Marriage Registration Ordinance under the general category, under Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act and the Kandyan marriage and divorce act.
Accordingly, the Rs.100 charged as fee for entering a notice of marriage at his office or at any other place was revised to Rs.120.
The Rs.750 charged for Solemnizing marriage in his office has been revised to Rs.900. To issue a certified copy or an extract or a certificate Registration on the application made for a copy, where a search of records is not required, which was charged earlier at Rs. 100 is revised to Rs.120 and issuing a special licence was revised to Rs.120, whereas it was Rs.50 earlier.
