The Mahanayake Theras of Malwatu and Asgiri Chapters today urged the government to reconsider the reopening date of schools for the second term due to ongoing security concerns.
The Theras said that it was not fitting to open the schools when the security of the entire country has not yet been fully restored.
Hence, they urged the authorities to open all the schools on a single day after ensuring the security.
The Mahanayaka Theras requested the President, the Prime Minster and relevant authorities to pay their attention to the issue and take appropriate actions.
However, the government schools are due to re-commence on Monday (6) for students who are studying at grade 6 and above.
