Former President Maithripala Sirisena, who commented on controversial telephone conversations leaked out to the social media, said that UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake had done an illegal and utterly disgraceful thing by maintaining such audio clips in his possession.
In an interview with Daily Mirror, he was responding to a question about the leaking of such conversations between Mr. Ramanayake and others including the judges who handled serious cases during the time of the former rule.
Audio clips have already gone viral on the internet, and the revelation led to the interdiction of former Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Shani Abeysekara.
However, the former President did not detail out his answer. (Kelum Bandara)

Their issue is with Ranjan keeping the recordings. Not with him influencing justice. Does it mean they knew it?

Exactly, Sir. They are not at all concerned about all the illegal and unethical acts that were done in the name of Yahapalanaya. They are worried about why all these recordings were kept. In other words, why was Ranjan so dumb to get caught.

The leaking of telephone conversations helped the entire country to know how the justice prevailed during the past 5 years. One cannot cover his or her nudity using his or her palm.

This is hilarious. So X First Citizen says, what is wrong is the recording and keeping the conversations, not the intentions actions of the revealed parties. God bless Sri Lanka!
