The United National Party (UNP) Working Committee had unanimously approved to appoint MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara the General Secretary of the new UNP-led alliance, MP Sujeewa Senasinghe said a while ago.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror he said the proposal was made by him at the Working Committee held at Sirikotha this evening and everyone approved.
"The present Government is struggling, especially with the cost of living and they have no plan with the current debt problem," MP Senasinghe said.
He said that the Prime Minister had gone to India seeking solutions to the current debt issues.
"Everyone accepted the leadership of Minister Sajith Premadasa and requested the committee to let him lead and all gave the mandate to lead this alliance. Let him take the other decisions too," he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
