MP Rajitha Senaratne and his son Chathura Senaratne arrived at the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to give statements over a false complaint made by a journalist that he was abducted on March 10.
Earlier, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said 'Siyarata' web journalist Sujeewa Gamage had made a false complaint that he was abducted, tortured for info on his sources and political contacts before being dumped at a street corner in Maligawatta.
However, the CCD launched an investigation into the incident and it was disclosed that the journalist had made a fake complaint, he said.
DIG Rohana said the CCD will record statements from Chathura Senaratne and MP Rajitha Senaratne as the journalist had met them before being admitted to the hospital.
