The Railways Department has restricted train services following government instructions to restrict travel during the Christmas holiday season, Sri Lanka Station Masters' Union (SLSMU) said.
They have announced the train service schedule on December 25, 26 and 27.
Accordingly, four trains will operate on the Main Line (One train to Kandy, two to Rambukkana and one to Polgahawela) and two trains on the Puttalam line and it will be only up to Chilaw. One train will operate on the Northern line up to Maho, one on the Kelani Valley line and two trains will operate on the coastal line.
All regional train services will operate according to the usual time table and no long-distance services or goods train services will be in operation during this period.
The SLSMU urged the commuters to strictly follow health guidelines when travelling in trains. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

The fewer trains, the more people on the trains. All train traffic should be canceled between 24th December and the 2nd January.
