A 68-year-old Sri Lankan passenger was arrested by the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) officials for possessing Methempitamin (Ice) weighing more than 2kgs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night, police said.
They said the suspect arrived at BIA from Chennai, India. The contraband was found concealed inside a false bottom of his baggage.
The suspect was identified as Mohammad Hazan Mohammad Akram, a resident of Mabola, Wattala.
The suspect is to be produced in the Negombo Magistrate's Court today to obtain seven-day detention order for further questioning.
