All Bus and train services have decided to limit their services including long distance services due to lack of passengers.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) Head Gemunu Wijerathene said their bus services will be limited to 25% that include the long distance services.
He said most of the people use their own transportation led to a decrease in the bus services. However, the office transport services are in operation, he said.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said the buses will be assigned upon the demand of passengers.
He also said all heads of the Provincial depots were advised to continuing their service considering the demand.
Railways General Manager (GMR) Gamini Senavirathe said trains will be operating as usual until the end of this week.
However, the department had decided to reduce the number of train services in the next week considering the dwindling number of commuters.
Kandy-Colombo, Badulla-Colombo, Colombo-Jaffna- Kankesanthurai, Colombo - Polonnaruwa and Colombo-Beliatta intercity trains have been halted, the GMR added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
