Proposals have been submitted to declare the Kandy Esala Procession commonly known as “Esala Perahera” as a World Heritage, Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO said.
The proposals will be submitted to the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, Dr. Punchi Nilame Meegaswatte, the Secretary General of Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO Moderates Asia Pacific Consultations said.
Thereby, the Esala Perahera would be declared as an intangible heritage.
