The Public Health Inspectors' Union of Sri Lanka (PHIUSL) today urged the Government to isolate the Western Province (WP) and impose travel restrictions among other districts until January 1.
PHIUSL Secretary M. Balasooriya told the Daily Mirror that the areas that come within Colombo Municipality in the WP have been alerted with higher risk of COVID-19 spread.
Also there is a tendency of emerging sub clusters from outside the WP, he said.
"People might move to other districts to celebrate Christmas and New year, and that could trigger the spreading of virus even further," he said.
Therefore the union requested the Government to isolate the WP and to implement travel restrictions among other districts to curb the situation. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Please please do this otherwise it will be too late again like the October spread... closing district borders for unnecessary boarder movements is not a barrier to economy... in the long long run and will prevent a huge spread and snowballing of covid19 Jan to March and until a vaccine is brought and given to at least 50%
