Islamic text books prescribe death sentence: ’Muslim atheist’

This shows the sad state of affairs of all Muslims - leaders, intellectuals, educationists, students, parents etc. None of them seem to know what is being taught in schools. An atheist has no religion. What is this guy trying to do? Seeking cheap popularity?

The death sentence for those who denounce Islamism and kill non-Muslims are two different things. I do not agree with both views. These text books were written by muslims and not others. Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka should understand this. Do not play political games here.

The problem is, Quran DOES say to kill all kafirs and those who leave Islam as well as homosexuals etc, etc. The problem is not in the text books, the problem is in the Quran itself! Quran Quran (4:89) - "They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not Auliya' (protectors or friends) from them, till they emigrate in the Way of Allah (to Muhammad). But if they turn back (from Islam), take (hold) of them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither Auliya' (protectors or friends) nor helpers from them." Verse 4:65 says that those who have faith are in "full submission" to Muhammad's teachings. This verse explains what should happen to Muslims who do not "have faith" and (along with verses 90-91) do not agree to banishment and subjugation.

These things were earlier highlighted by Ven.Hepola Vipassi thero several times, There must be a scrutinizing mechanism of the text book content yet extremists sneak in and put all these idologies in to books due to lack of integrity in politics and policies.
