Local taxis with or without meters charge an exorbitant amount when rides are hauled. Don't give this turd talks please. Uber and pickme see doing a great job and convenience to passengers.

Local operators wrought the system the way the deceive and dupe the tourists is a shame they need to be educated to how to treat and respect the tourists and the locals explain the cost to the countries image and revenue, come up with a educational course for this industry and give them a ticket of compliance if they want to be part of the industry and have some structure.

Where is the problem? Even the drivers of the taxi companies are locals. And if they give a better service then the general public will benefit from it. All these unions are not good for the economy.

I have gone through all your comments. Let say you ,there are two leading taxi service providers. They charge 25% commission from drivers earnings ( every 100 rupees 25 rupees taxed from drivers). For a ride driver has to go around 5 km to pick up the rider, whereas he travel only 3km. These type of sacrifices driver have to bear in order to company make profit. Whereas this two ventures make very huge revenue and never pay back tax to Government
